1-Convict ↑John Brimfield was born in 1794 in Leominster, Herefordshire, England, died on 27 Apr 1856 in Bothwell, Tasmania at age 62, and was buried in St Lukes Church, Bothwell.
John was convicted of stealing a watch and money from a housekeeper, tried on the 16 October 1823 at Salop town of Ludlow and sentenced for 14 years transportation. His mother lived near Leomister in Hereford-Wooster area approximately 7 miles inside the Welsh border near Ludlow near Brimfield. He was 27 at the time, 4'10" with brown hair and light grey eyes. His trade was a gardener, garden hand or brewer. John sailed on the ship Phoenix from Portsmouth on the 29 March 1824 and arrived at Van Diemen's Land on 21 July 1824.
John married Rebecca Downes on 16 Jun 1833 in Green Ponds, now Kempton, Tasmania. Rebecca was born on 24 Nov 1794 in London, England and died on 8 Jul 1880 in Oatlands at age 85. They had two children: John Edwin and Rebecca.
