I was looking at William Taylor today on your family tree and am having a few problems with the details you have provided. They don't correspond with the research I have done. I am trying to verify a few details. I hate to be pedantic and do apologise if wrong. So here goes:
We agree on his death date 12th Oct 1914. I have him at age 74 which makes him born in 1839/40. I think this was in tas bdm's. You have him at age 79 and birth in 1835.
I don't have a link to his parents listed as William Taylor and Ann Hamilton, thou they did live in Carrick, where William son lived. How do you know his second name is John and that they are his parents.
The only Ann Hamilton listed as transported to vdl came in 1817 on the Elizabeth Henrietta. and last listed as transport in 1819.
You have her arriving in 1834 on the same ship but it was wrecked off Newcastle nsw in1825.
They did apply to the muster master 6/10/1834 to be married and application was passed on to secretary 15/10/1834. Marriage I think occured in 1835 CON52/1/1 pg195.
Am going to the library to check a few details. I have more info if you are interested.
Hope to hear from you soon Janice

I have just come across your website with interest. My family tree also mentions a Thomas Young who married an Anne Landale whose son Thomas Young born 1729 married E. Tindale and had 15 children including an Anne who married a Thompson. There seems to be so many similarities albeit name spellings vary but that is quite typical for that time. I just wonder where you got your information and whether there is a connection - could Anne have married twice or could we have faulty information or were there two families with so many similarities in Leith/Edinburgh at that time?
Hope to hear from you. alex

|Comment:||Very interesting. I've following my mtDNA which is obviously far further back when I learned more about Samuel. My mother is Kathleen Vickers (nee Bennett). Percy Edgar is her grandfather - The story is that he almost missed the boat to South Africa was it not for a box of apples that they were loading. Then, he was due to return to Tasmania some time later on the Waratah but met my great great grandmother and decided to remain. The Waratah disappeared en route back to Australia and was only found within the last 15 years. My mothers father was Gordon Bennett who died a decade or so ago in Roodepoort South Africa. My mother and father emigrated to Australia 15 years ago after time in New Zealand and live in Brisbane. A good read - Thanks, Mark Vickers|

|Comment:||Hi there, I'm a direct decendant of William and Mary Handley (nee Kenny), via Mary Handley who married George Brown and lived at Pyengana. I am doing some research into my family tree, and was wondering if you have a direct link from William Handley the man living at Fingal to a convict record? I think it makes sense that he is one of the William Handley's who came out in the Duchess of Northumberland but hadn't found a direct link for this. I would b grateful for any help with this! Thanking you in anticipation, Edwina Brown|

|Comment:||Hello there I am trying to do some research on the Dean family. My father Jack Dean Bushby was a cousin of Joe Cocker who did a lot of family research and would love to know more. I am originally from Tasmania but now live with my wife Caroline and son Malcolm in the UK. Our other son is still in Tasmania. My grandmother was Elizabeth Dean whose father I think was Thomas Dean. It is my belief that according to Joe we have a connection to a) The Dukes of Atholl b) Sir Richard Deane ( signatory on the death warrant for Charles 1.)c) via Sir Richard, Oliver Cromwell. I have a copy of the death warrant that Joe gave my father. Would just love to find out more if anyone as anymore info. I know Joe produced a book which apparently goes into all of this but I don't think it is The Cocker Connection. It maybe but am sure there is another book. I may be wrong. I would love it if someone could get back to me. Cheers, John|

|Comment:||My husband, daughter and myself are planning a short trip to Tasmania later this year to visit sites that are relevant to the Cocker family. John Snr and Sarah (my great great grandparents) married 1845 Church of England is this the St Marys Church, Main Street, Kempton burial site at Uniting Church Cemetery - more details on location of church cemetery required Confirm that the memorial plaque and seat are also located at this cemetery John Jnr and Rebecca Laid foundation stone for the Baptist Church - is this the church located at Sheffield Road, Lower Barrington Bellevue - no longer in the family and been converted into a Holiday house to rent, located at 349 Lower Barrington Road Member of the Methodist Church - is this now a house at 42 Barrington Road As our time is very limited in Tasmania, site location details would be very helpful. If there are any further sites that you think are important we would appreciate it if you can identify them for us. Thank you Judith|

|Comment:||I realize the Ancestor's page is not your focus, but in case anyone is interested, the last two children listed for James Jessop Mawer and Isabella Findlay are not two, but one person. Arthur Thomas Mawer used the name Edwin Arnold "Ted" Grant while living in the U.S. 1953 is the correct year of his death.|
