Stephen married Mary Maud Reid on 4 May 1860 in Port Sorell. Mary was born on 12 Jan 1839 in Ochiltree, Ayr, Scotland and died on 12 Sep 1910 in Latrobe, Tasmania at age 71. They had a son: Robert.

2-Robert Foster was born on 11 Nov 1865 in Don, Tasmania and died on 25 Dec 1947 at age 82. Robert married Sarah Ann Piper, daughter of Robert Piper and Dorothy Weller, on 15 Oct 1890 in Wesley Vale, Tasmania. Sarah was born about 1870. They had one daughter: Daisy Myrtle.

3-Daisy Myrtle Foster was born on 30 Sep 1896 in Port Frederick and died on 11 Nov 1984 in Tasmania at age 88. Daisy married Bernard Robert Marshall, son of James Reuben Marshall and Janet McHugh, on 25 Jul 1928 in Wesley Vale, Tasmania. Bernard was born on 29 Sep 1900 in Upper Castra, Tasmania and died on 3 Oct 1997 in Deloraine, Tasmania at age 97. They had a son: Brian Bernard.
