Comment:Hi I love finding sites like yours on the net and have been looking into the Harris family history with limited success. Annie Florence Taylor is my great grandmother. I have her Bible which was originally James Boxhall's. Eliza Collins (Harris) is my grandmother. You list three children all of whom are now deceased but the two you have omitted are still living!! The youngest, my mother Hilda Merle (89) and the eldest Eva Maud (97). If you would like to communicate further please let me know. I also have a photo which I think is of Charles or Alfred Harris but cannot be sure. Do you have a picture I can compare with? Regards, John Davey Forth Tasmania

Comment:I am interested in the family as the only Netherwood to be transported to VDL was John Netherwood who arrived in Hobart on the Medway on 14 December 1825. He was assigned to Mr. H. Murray, Macquarie River. However by 1828 (when he was aged 40) he was in constant trouble with the law, I suspect through drinking problems and, within a couple of years was removed to Port Arthur. I have a copy of his conduct sheet which does not make happy reading!

Comment:Further to my earlier message John Netherwood was a 'wood turner/chair maker' (having in earlier years been classified as a 'labourer'. He was from Wakefield in Yorkshire and had a history of theft in England before his death sentence was commuted to TFL in 1825.
